Baccarat / HOW TO PLAY / BETUS CASINO

Widely considered to be one of the most glamorous games found in any casino, baccarat is a fan favorite for a reason.

Baccarat is played between a player and dealer, with the goal of correctly predicting who will have the best hand. Bets can be made on the player, the banker or on a tie. After bets are made, both the dealer and player are dealt 2 cards each. The hand with a total closest to 9 wins.

In baccarat, all cards are worth their face value, with the exception of Tens, Jacks, Queens and Kings all counting as 0.

While baccarat is a very simply game to play, there are a few rules you should know before jumping in.

  1. The total of the cards can only be 0-9. If a total exceeds 9, then the first number is dropped and the second is used as the total. For example, if a player is holding 8h 8s, their initial total will be 16. Once the rule is applied, the total becomes 6.
  2. If the player's first two cards total 0-5 and the banker's total is 0-7, the player takes a third card. If the player's total is higher than 5 or the banker's total is higher than 7, the player is dealt another card.
  3. If the banker’s first two cards total 0, 1 or 2, the Banker draws one card.

Here are some other situations the dealer would take a third card

  • Banker's Hand totaling 3: Banker gets a 3rd card UNLESS the player's 3rd card is 8 OR the banker gets a 3rd card if the player's 2 cards total 6 or 7.
  • Banker's Hand totaling 4: Banker gets a 3rd card if the player's 3rd card is 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, or 7 OR the banker gets a 3rd card if the player's 2 cards total 6 or 7.
  • Banker's Hand totaling 5: Banker gets a 3rd card if the player's 3rd card is 4, 5, 6, or 7 OR the banker gets a 3rd card if the player's 2 cards total 6 or 7.
  • Banker's Hand totaling 6: Banker gets a 3rd card if the player's 3rd card is 6 or 7.
  • Banker's Hand totaling 7: Stands
