Pai Gow Poker - Game Guide

In Pai Gow Poker, the player and dealer both create a two card hand and a five card hand out of seven cards. The five card hand, for both the player and dealer, must be greater than the two card hand.

The hands are compared to one another. The player’s two card hand is compared to the dealer’s two card hand. High hand wins. The player’s five card hand is compared to the dealer’s five card hand. High hand wins. The benefit of player Pai Gow Poker in the online casino is that you can ask the casino to create your two card hand and five card hand via the Flamingo Casino House-Way. This will prevent you from making mistakes in creating your two hands and it gives you something to look at before making a decision on how to create both card sets.

Pai Gow Poker is also played with a single Joker. The Joker can only be used to complete a straight or flush in the five card hand. Otherwise, the Joker counts as an Ace.

Pai Gow Poker - How to Play

After you place your bet, the dealer gives you seven cards and deals seven downcards to himself. You have to create a two card hand and a five card hand out of the seven cards. The online casino lets you do this via the House Way tool, or you can do it on your own. Make sure that the two card hand is of less value than the five card hand. Here’s an example:

Dealer gives you a Jack, Joker, 3, 9, 10, 8, Queen. You put the 3 with the Joker for the two card hand and the Jack, 9, 10, Queen and 8 for the five card hand. The reason that you do this is so that you can create a straight with the five card hand, 8, 9, 10, Jack and Queen.

For your two card hand, the Joker counts as an Ace. Your two card hand is Ace (Joker), 3. If the dealer’s five card hand is King, King, King, 3, 2, then you win with your five card hand because a straight beats 3 of a Kind. If the dealer’s two card hand is Ace, 4, then you lose with your two card hand because an Ace, 4 beats an Ace (Joker), 3.

The end result in this example is a tie. You won the five card hand and the dealer won the two card hand.

Pai Gow Poker - Strategy/Tips

You can go ahead and try to set up your two card hand and five card hand by yourself, but why do that? The online casino makes it very easy for you to set your hands via the House Way tool. The Flamingo Casino House-Way isn’t always the optimal method to use, but it’s a great starting point if you’re new to the game and the best part is that you don’t have to stick with the house way.

Therefore, it makes sense to use the House Way tool first and then decide if there is a better way to create your two card and five card sets. Remember, that the idea is to maximize your chances of winning both card sets. If you only win one of the card sets, you could end up in a tie with the dealer.
